ABB delivers long-distance power link in China ahead of schedule

ABB提前交付中國長距離輸電線路

2006-12-22 - ABB has delivered the high voltage direct current (HVDC) link running 1,040 kilometers (646 miles) between the Three Gorges hydropower plant and Shanghai in less than 30 months - six months ahead of schedule and the fastest delivery ever of a long-distance HVDC project.

The 3,000 megawatt (MW) power link went into commercial operation on Dec. 9 during an inauguration ceremony at the Huaxin HVDC receiver station on the outskirts of Shanghai, China’s largest city.

該3,000兆瓦電力線在12月9日開始投入商業運營，這天在上海這個中國最大城市的市郊的華新HVDC換流站舉辦了投產慶祝典禮。

Built at a cost of $900 million on behalf of State Grid Corporation, China’s longest HVDC transmission link delivers much-needed power from the Three Gorges hydropower plant in central China to the coastal megacity of Shanghai.

由中國國家電網公司投資9億美元建造的這條中國最長的HVDC傳輸線，從三峽水電站向中國的沿海城市上海輸送著大量需要的電力。

ABB completed the project in less than 30 months, six months ahead of schedule and one month faster than the previous world record which ABB set in June 2004 for the 940-kilometer, 3,000 MW Three Gorges to Guangdong power link.

The inauguration ceremony took place in the same week as the official opening of the Estlink HVDC Light underground and underwater interconnection between Estonia and Finland, which ABB also completed in record time.

World’s largest hydropower project

On completion in 2009, the Three Gorges will be the world’s largest hydropower plant generating 18,200 MW of power from 26 generators and delivering it over vast distances of between 890 and 1,040 kilometers to the high-growth industrial hubs of Shanghai and the Yangtze river delta to the east, and Guangzhou and the Pearl river delta to the south.

在2009年完工的三峽將成為世界最大的水電站，其26個發電機組將產生18,200兆瓦的電力，并傳送到890公里到1040公里之外的工業告訴發展的中心地區，東到上海和長江三角洲地區，南至廣州和珠江三角洲地區。

All four HVDC links that have been built to date were delivered by ABB.

HVDC is an ABB innovation that transports large power loads over long distances with low losses and minimal environmental impact, requiring just two 500 kilovolt (kV) DC power lines to carry the same power load as five alternating current (AC) lines.

HVDC技術是ABB的一項創新，在長距離的傳輸中，它傳送大量的電量，而損失很低，而且對環境的影響也達到最小化，只需要兩條500千伏的直流電線就可以運載相當于五條交流電線輸送的電量。

ABB’s scope of delivery for the Three Gorges – Shanghai link includes two HVDC converter stations comprising 28 converter power transformers and six smoothing reactors, switchgear and advanced control equipment. Converter stations transform alternating current to direct current for transmission and back to AC again for distribution to consumers.

ABB向三峽－上海輸電路線交付的范圍包括兩個HVDC換流站，這兩個換流站由28個換流變壓器、6個濾波反應器、開關柜以及高級控制設備構成。換流站將交流電轉換成直流電傳輸，然后又轉換回交流電用于分配到用戶。
