Wuxi, Nov 18, 2007 -- On November 18, 2007, Siemens Medium Voltage Switching Technologies (Wuxi) Ltd. (SMVS) celebrates its 10th anniversary, together with the successful application of Siemens world-leading 25-years of GIS (gas insulated switchgear) and 35 years of VI (vacuum interrupter) technology. With its fast and steady development over the past decade, SMVS has dramatically multiplied its production capacities and widen its product portfolio. As one of the fastest growing business units among Siemens PTD's operations in China, SMVS is playing an active role in facilitating the sustainable development of China's electric power industry.

Established in 1997, Siemens Medium Voltage Switching Technologies (Wuxi) Ltd. (former Siemens Vacuum Interrupters (Wuxi) Ltd.) is a joint venture between Siemens AG, Germany and Wuxi Electronics and Instruments Industry Corp. Its total investment is 40 million Euro, Siemens is the major shareholder. SMVS mainly engages in developing and manufacturing medium voltage vacuum interrupters (VI), vacuum circuit breakers (VCB) and gas insulated switchgear (GIS) as well as after sales services in China.

成立于1997年11月的西門子中壓開關技術(無錫)有限公司(原西門子真空開關管(無錫)有限公司)，是由西門子輸配電集團與無錫市電子儀表工業公司共同投資的合資企業。其投資總額為4000萬歐元，西門子是主要股東。公司在中國主要從事陶瓷真空滅弧室、真空斷路器、氣體絕緣開關柜及相關產品的開發、制造、市場銷售及技術售后服務。

In recent years, the increasing demand in China's electric power industry, especially in medium voltage market leads to fierce market competition and higher requirement on product lifespan, reliability and safety. SMVS is dedicated to technology innovation and technology transfer from Germany to China. Siemens was the first company introducing GIS technology in the market. Its prestigious 25-years experience with medium voltage GIS technology has many advantages over its competitors'. Apart from the two Siemens' mother factories in Berlin and Frankfurt, SMVS is the only Siemens' VI and GIS manufacturing base outside Germany. Its high reliable, climatic independent, maintenance-free GIS products have got widely recognition in China. Siemens' medium voltage other core technology, VI, has experienced 35 years in the market this year. As China's economy is developing fast, environmental protection becomes a major concern of the society. As a responsible and trustworthy corporate citizen, SMVS is dedicated to protecting local environment along with its business development. To ensure the safety of the water released to the environment, SMVS imported for instance water treatment equipment from Germany in 1998. The water quality is strictly examined everyday. From 2004 to 2006, SMVS further expanded the water treatment system for two times with the total investment of 10 million RMB. Siemens holds a total of some 30,000 patents for environmental and climate-relevant solutions and invests over 2 billion EURO a year in related research and development. With Siemens' global technology support, SMVS will further continue its development on environmental protection.
