OMAC and Boeing to hold Technical Symposium

4 June 2007 -- The OMAC leadership team is currently developing the framework for the first annual OMAC technical symposium, to be held November 28-29, 2007. The forum will be hosted by the Boeing Company in Everate, WA, at the Boeing Visitor Center and Hilton Garden.

6月4日消息——OMAV領(lǐng)導(dǎo)團(tuán)隊(duì)目前正在為將于2007年11月28號(hào)至29號(hào)舉辦的第一屆年度OMAC技術(shù)研討會(huì)指定框架。該研討會(huì)將有波音公司主辦，地點(diǎn)是華盛頓州Everate的波音參觀者中心和希爾頓酒店。

This two day event will bring together and integrate the OMAC Working Groups (machine tool, packaging, MS MUG, etc.) into a single cohesive body that will work toward a common objective - enhancing the collaboration between process and discrete industries.

為期兩天的研討會(huì)將集中而且整合OMAC的工作組織（機(jī)床、包裝、MS MUG等等）成為一個(gè)專一的結(jié)合體，致力于一個(gè)共同的目標(biāo)——加強(qiáng)過程工業(yè)和離散工業(yè)之間的合作。

Attendees will engage in a series of best practices presentations focused on integration from the process and discrete industries, take a tour of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner assembly operation, and experience working group breakout sessions. Technical content for the presentations will be provided by the Automation Federation member organizations and other industry experts.

The theme of the symposium will be centered on integration between the process and discrete industries, using standards like those for CAM and NC control, inspection, CAD definition, data packaging, process planning, and automotive manufacturing.

"Through this event, we'll be able to develop a collaboration and integration roadmap, creating a forum that enables better collaboration between the process and discrete industries via the OMAC Working Groups," said OMAC Technical Director Dave Bauman. "This conference will be a great networking and learning opportunity for attendees."

Seating capacity is limited to 150 attendees, and registration for the symposium will open in August. The preliminary schedule provides for an OMAC Working Group members meeting, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner assembly tour, a series of case studies presented by Boeing, additional case studies from other companies, and breakout sessions.

座位容量僅有150人，研討會(huì)將在八月開放登記。初步議程準(zhǔn)備有一個(gè)OMAC工作組成員會(huì)議，參觀波音787夢(mèng)幻客機(jī)裝配，波音公司提供的一系列個(gè)案研究，其他公司的案例學(xué)習(xí)以及分支會(huì)議。

OMAC-The Open Modular Architecture Controls Users' Group is an affiliate organization of ISA - The Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society - and works to collectively derive common solutions for both technical and non-technical issues in the development, implementation, and commercialization of open, modular architecture control (OMAC) technologies, and to facilitate the accelerated development and convergence of industry and government developed OMAC technology guidelines to one set that satisfies common use requirements.

OMAC has about 500 member representatives from end-user companies, OEMs, and technology providers and integrator companies. OMAC currently operates three Work Groups: Packaging Machinery, Manufacturing Infrastructure, and Machine Tool. OMAC is a founding charter member of The Automation Federation.
