Recently, Siemens signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shenzhen Government. Under the agreement, both parties intend to strengthen their cooperation in the industry sectors of power infrastructure development, transportation infrastructure development, medical facilities solution, city and industrial waste water treatment, industrial modernization and innovation, city modernization development and Information and Communications. Through the signing of the agreement, Siemens wants to reiterate its heartfelt commitment to deepen its partnership with Shenzhen.

Already in 1996, Siemens established its office in Shenzhen, which marks the significant starting point of Siemens to become a good, well-liked and respected Corporate Citizen of Shenzhen. To date, with GDP of 490 billion RMB, Shenzhen has realized the "Shenzhen Speed" and "Shenzhen Efficiency". Shenzhen emerged as one of the most economically powerful cities of China having been a small village two decades ago. Siemens' partnership with Shenzhen has rapidly strengthened in recent years. Siemens has made many important contributions to build Shenzhen's infrastructure and modernize its industry. Some of the most advanced technologies in Shenzhen today are "made by Siemens" such as the Shenzhen Metro Line, the high voltage direct current (HVDC) line from Guizhou to Shenzhen. Siemens also made significant investments in the city for example only last year, Siemens opened the "MR Center of Excellence for Asia" in Siemens Mindit Magnetic Resonance Ltd., (SMMR) and announced to establish a new Joint Venture for medium-voltage
