ABB to engineer big upgrade for huge hydroelectric plant

2006-02-28 - ABB is installing protection and control systems to modernize the Guri power plant in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, the second largest hydroelectric plant in the world.

Over the years the plant has been upgraded from 10 generation units and an installed capacity of 2,065 MW in 1978, to feature 10 additional generation units at 730 MW each. Additional units were installed in a second power house in 1985.
